Considering they were Hanna-Barbera's biggest rivals, it's baffling that MGM would choose them of all studios to make a T&J series. That's more than could ever be said for the Filmation series in the '80's. I think that's also why I don't find myself hating the 1970's Tom and Jerry Show or Tom and Jerry Kids, because at least Hanna and Barbera were there in some form working or supervising on the shows. I guess I have to put the Chuck Jones cartoons in second place since I am a fan of Jones' work, but Hanna-Barbera's stuff is undoubtedly the best. Tom plot, Nit-Witty Kitty always made me laugh my butt off, and of course any short where Tom and Jerry are musketeers were pretty hilarious. Kitty Foiled is a great one for it's simplistic Jerry and Canary vs. The Cat Concerto and Johann Mouse are big favs of mine for their featuring of classical music combined with slapstick, always gave me a Looney Tunes-like feeling.
